Recently, Division 35 has been hard at work making our versions of the famous pieces of art in the style of Ted Harrison. After reading The Cremation Of Sam McGee, we were inspired to create artwork like the illustrator, Ted Harrison. It was interesting trying to take his artwork and use his techniques to make your own picture. His style of art was very bright, and outlined, so pastels were a necessity in order to truly capture his paintings.
First, we sketched out what our picture was going to look like, complete with the colours. Then, we used bigger and heavier paper to transfer our ideas onto. I thought that the coloring was the best part. There were so many possibilities; you could paint your sky pink and blue, and have a red moon! You definitely had TONS of freedom creating this art. Once we finished, all of our paintings were hung proudly on the walls, for all to see.
